At the weekend there was a story of as teenage serial entrepreneur. Now another of a 23 year old. It used to be said that you were becoming old when the policmen looked young. Not sure how I feel when serial entrepreneurs are similar age to my children.
Another point is that whklst it's great to see successful UK entrepreneurs what a shame he had to go to the US and use Singapore capital to achieve his goals.
It's time for the UK capital markets to give these guys a chance.
London-born tech entrepreneur James Proud skipped college to move to San Francisco as a teenager. Now, less than a year after Kickstarter backers put up $2.4m for his Sense sleep monitor, the 23-year-old is already looking further afield, with a $40m funding round led by Singapore’s Temasek. The funding for Hello, which comes at an unusually early stage for the Singapore state investment company, values Mr Proud’s three-year-old company at $250m, said people familiar with the deal.
